Maintaining a Reliable Internet Connection
Working from home, online shopping, gaming, checking the weather, watching your favourite TV series, connecting with friends and family… we live in a digital world and it’s becoming more important that everyone has access to a reliable internet connection.
The internet plays a vital role for both businesses and individuals – so you want to ensure you’re getting the best out of your connection.
Here are our top tips to help you stay online.
Choose a reliable internet provider
Obviously, we can help you out here! As a Kiwi-owned internet provider, we currently have over 60 sites covering 2,500+ square kilometres of the King Country. This ensures our local rural community has access to a range of speedy, reliable, and affordable internet service connections.

Have a back-up option ready to go
In rare situations, such as bad weather, have a back-up or secondary internet option available for emergencies. This could be as simple as making sure you can hotspot from your mobile phone data or having a fixed wireless connection in place.
We pride ourselves on keeping you connected, rain, shine, flood or drought. But on the chance your internet does go down we recommend reaching out to our local team straight away – this ensures we can get onto identifying and fixing the issue as soon as possible.
Use a quality router
While it might be tempting to keep using an old, outdated router, or to buy the cheapest option available – this can actually cause lagging internet speeds, frequent disconnection, or other connectivity issues. Make sure you have the best connection possible by investing a little more in quality equipment, such as a reliable router to help with a stable and consistent internet connection.
Consider a wired connection
For gamers or those who want a super speedy and reliable connection, you might want to consider connecting your device directly to an Ethernet connection. This can mitigate any interference, lagging or disruption. We love Wi-Fi for the convenience but depending on how you spend your time online this might be a good option for you (particularly for gamers!).
You could also make sure your device is close to the router for the best connection possible.
Check your settings
If you are experiencing any connection issues, it’s a good starting point to check that your network is set up correctly and updated. We recommend turning your router off and on again, checking the connections and making sure the firmware is updated regularly. You can also look at optimise your router settings. If you’re still having trouble, get in touch with our team for more troubleshooting tips or we can send one of our technicians out to see you.
