Feeling the Pinch? Here’s How to Save Money on Your Internet Bill.
In today’s digital age, having an internet connection is a necessity, but the cost of staying connected can sometimes feel like an expensive burden. If you’re looking to ease the strain on your wallet without compromising your online experience, there are a few things that might help lighten the load.
Review Your Current Usage and Costs
The first step in optimising your internet bill is understanding what you’re using and what you’re paying for. Take some time to have a closer look at your current plan and data usage — how much data are you using each month? Do you use the full amount you’re paying for? Do you run over your allocated data? Are you paying overdue fees? All good questions to ask yourself, and keeping an eye on data usage through your customer portal can help you make informed decisions about your plan.
As a Wireless Dynamics customer you can check your usage by logging in to your MyWD Customer Portal, or give us a call and we’d be happy to chat through your usage and options with you.
Choose the Right Plan
Once you’re reviewed your data usage, and evaluated your household’s needs against your current plan, you might find you could switch to a more economical plan aligns with your usage. Or if you dig a little deeper, perhaps there are times of the year you use a lot more data than others, and switching your broadband plan up or down through those months may be an option.
We decided early on that we don’t want to give customers nasty surprises on their bill; so we don’t penalise our customers with overdue fees or running over on plans with data caps. On capped plans we just drop the internet speed once you’re reached your data cap, so you can keep browsing and checking emails for free for the rest of the month!
Be Mindful of the Devices in Your Home
Being aware of the devices in your home that consume internet, and making sure these are turned off when not in use will prevent them from running (or updating) in the background and consuming extra data. Another tech tip is to turn off the Auto Play feature for apps with video (e.g. YouTube and Facebook), so that video data isn’t downloaded unless you intend to watch it. You can also change video quality settings from HD to a lower setting, saving a few megabits of data each time. Simple adjustments like this can contribute to a smoother online experience and potentially save you money.
Refer a Friend and Enjoy Credits
Many providers offer referral programs. By referring friends, you not only help them discover a reliable service but also earn internet credits for yourself. At Wireless Dynamics if you refer a friend or family member who signs up, you both receive $50 in credit! With no limit to the number of people you can refer, that’s a win-win if you ask us!
Explore Entertainment Alternatives
Consider alternatives to constantly using streaming services like Netflix and Disney. Watching Freeview or DVDs instead can be a cost-effective way to enjoy entertainment, without punishing your internet data. You could even check your local library for DVD rentals, offering a nostalgic touch reminiscent of the days when owning a few favorite movies on VHS was the norm.
Stream Less, Get Outside More
Reducing screen time not only benefits your mental health but can also save on data usage. Designate device-free times of the day and engage in outdoor activities. Making small adjustments to your streaming habits can positively impact your wallet and well-being.
Payment Flexibility
If you’ve been through the process of reviewing your internet bill, using referrals to gain credits, and reducing unnecessary usage and you’re still looking to make your internet bill budget friendly, opting for weekly payments can be a great way to help ease the financial burden so you’re not paying a large lump sum every month.
Overall, saving money on internet costs requires a combination of understanding your usage patterns, what you’re paying for, choosing the right plan, and making conscious decisions about your online activities. By putting these simple tips into practice, you can enjoy a reliable internet connection without breaking the bank. Remember, a mindful approach to internet usage not only saves you money but also contributes to a healthier digital lifestyle.
